ATTRACTIONS
Culture and tradition
The landscape surrounding the island is truly unique. But Hvar’s charm doesn’t stop at its fabulous beaches. Visitors may also be enchanted by its special attractions that are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The old town center of Hvar is considered to be one of the most significant attractions. On a hill standing at around 90 meters, we see the “Fortica Španjola”, a Spanish fortress dating back to the 13th century. It offers an incredible view over the rooftops of Hvar and the deep blue of the sea. With its distinctive structures steeped in history, such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the bell tower and the Franciscan monastery, the town center guarantees an excursion full of culture and tradition.
COAST LINE
DISCOVER THE ROMANTIC BEAUTY OF CROATIA.
The charmingly small fishing village of Vrboska is a real insider tip, and is also known as the “Venice of Hvar” thanks to its idyllic, picturesque backdrop. Stari Grad is one of the oldest towns in Croatia. After a stroll through the narrow streets of the historic town with its typical stone houses, choose one of the cafés on the romantic promenade to relax. The little village of Sveta Nedjelja also welcomes visitors with warm hospitality. Here, the lookout point at Veli Kamik offers a breathtaking view of the coast with its craggy rocks and cliffs. For those who like to feel a little more secluded, a mini excursion to the romantic lighthouse in Sucuraj at the eastern end of the island does just the trick. Directly off the coast of Hvar lies a group of around 20 islands – the Pakleni Islands: Borovac, Planikovac and Jerolim amongst others. They provide a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Croatian coast by boat.
